Agribusiness leaders graduate 2017

16 June 2017

Sixteen leaders graduated from the second Australian Agribusiness Leadership Program last week in Sydney.

The leaders came from different organisations and locations to collectively develop themselves as leaders, develop relationships and collaborate with other agribusiness leaders. This was the groups’ final session, with the first session taking place in Victoria in March and an online session occurring in April.

Highlights of the session:

  • Working on the group initiative with a specialist in the Westpac ‘Garage’. This group specialises in fast-tracking innovative new customer products.
  • Visiting Syngenta offices to discover the evolution of company values in a multinational organisation.
  • Visiting the Sydney Fish Markets to see significant change and redevelopment opportunities.
  • Presenting the group initiative to the Hon Luke Hartsuyker MP, Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister, and other industry leaders at their graduation.

The cohort presented an inspiring initiative which focused on ways to encourage youth, particularly science, technology, mathematics and engineering graduates into the agribusiness sector.

What the participants said:

“This program has really reinvigorated my leadership journey. It deepened the awareness I have of myself and who I am. It certainly deepened my awareness of the influence and the impact we can make as a team. And of the program itself, the biggest gift is the network that comes from being involved,” Grayson Killen, Syngenta.

“For me one of the highlights of the program has been the exposure to existing leaders in agribusiness throughout Australia. We have had CEO’s of large organisations who have shared their leadership stories, it’s been an amazing experience,” Jacqui Cannon, Consolidated Pastoral Company.
