Leaders graduate from the Torres Strait Women’s Leadership Program

16 November 2017

Ten women leaders graduated from the Torres Strait Women’s Leadership Program on Wednesday 8 November on Thursday Island, Queensland.

The program took place over three sessions, with the first session based in the Torres Strait and the second session taking place in Brisbane and Canberra.

With a focus on developing leaders through building capacity, the women examined themes such as leadership for me, for my community and for my region. The final session addressed Influence and Action, with a focus on:

  • Celebrating success and ongoing action
  • Island Governance
  • Leadership in my backyard

The program is a collaborative project between the Torres Strait Regional Authority and the Foundation. It is specifically for Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal women in the Torres Strait Region, and aims to develop their capacity for leadership and increasing the number of women in decision making roles.

Congratulations to the graduates. The Foundation is privileged to be part of the program and values the shared learning experiences with these inspiring leaders.
