Against the Wind fundraising bicycle ride
Graham Smith, the former manager of the Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP), had been planning to retire from the ARLF in June.
His exit plan was simple. With a couple of friends, he was going to cycle tour self-supported from Canberra to Perth in April. The 4000km bicycle ride was intended to be a fundraising ride for an ARLP scholarship.
COVID-19 has changed the plan.
For safety and logistical reasons, the ride has been postponed until Autumn 2021. It will go ahead if the COVID-19 situation is safe and practically feasible by April 2021. Graham is still aiming to fund-raise a scholarship for the ARLP with the Canberra to Perth ride in 2021.
In the meantime, Graham is continuing to work part-time at the ARLF and is assisting with a range of program development projects as the ARLF’s programs are adapted to suit the changing COVID-19 context.
