Course 25 convenes in Toowoomba for second session

30 November 2018

Leaders from all over Australia convened in Toowoomba for their second session of the Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP) Course 25 from 17 – 23 November 2018. This was the first time the group had met since their formative session in July and August 2018 which took place in the Kimberley, WA and Darwin, NT.

The focus of session two was to:

  • reconnect as a whole group
  • to undertake media training
  • gain a better understanding of ourselves and others
  • Meet partners and significant of Course 25 family and widened to circle of connections and support.

What the participants said:

‘I thought it was highly valuable to have the opportunity to gain understanding of ourselves and each other in our own personal relationships, as these are the key relationships that support us to be able to achieve our leadership goals in the workplace and community. I’m very grateful to ARLF for recognising this and engaging our partners and significant others in the journey,’ Lauren Finger, sponsored by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation.

‘After the Kimberley session which itself was life changing, this second session enabled us to see each other in two different lights and in two different leadership capacities,’ Aaron Irving, sponsored by Fisheries Research and Development Corporation.

‘The opportunity that emerges when you bring together remote leaders from across diverse industries spanning the whole nation has certainly been an unimaginable gift. The connection, learning and growth that has resulted from the experiences offered by the ARLP have been deeply profound, both a privilege and obligation that I embrace,’ Yola Bakker, sponsored by our Alumni Scholarship.

The next ARLP Course 25 session will take place in Tasmania from 9 – 16 February 2019.
