First Alumni Scholarship for Australian Rural Leadership Program

16 November 2017

The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation announced at Government House in Canberra today, that the first ever Alumni Scholarship will be bestowed in 2018.

The announcement was made at an afternoon celebration with Australia’s Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), who is also Patron-in-Chief of the Foundation.

Matt Linnegar, Chief Executive of the Foundation said, “Through the generous donations of our 1,000 plus alumni, we are able to provide one Australian leader with the opportunity to take part in the iconic Australian Rural Leadership Program, also known as the ARLP.”

The ARLP takes over 30 diverse leaders from across rural, regional and remote Australia, on a series of unique experiences to develop their leadership capabilities. It is a challenging 15-month program spread over five sessions, in locations across Australia, including the remote Kimberley region in Western Australia and Indonesia.

“This Alumni Scholarship is worth $55,000 and is an open scholarship, meaning that it is not tied to a particular industry or criteria, and someone who may not have otherwise had the opportunity, will get a place in the program,” said Matt.

“A leader will be chosen from our current application pool which closed in October. We are currently undertaking our rigorous selection process and the selected leader will become part of Course 25 of the ARLP.”

“We would like to thank our alumni for giving us the opportunity to offer the scholarship, their donations assist us in developing strong leaders for rural, regional and remote Australia.”

“We hope that alumni donations will continue, so we can offer an Alumni Scholarship each year,” said Matt.
