HV McKay Charitable Trust awards grant for ARLP Course 27

15 May 2020

The HV McKay Charitable Trust has awarded a philanthropic grant to fund a group initiative that will be undertaken by participants during ARLP Course 27.

The ARLF warmly welcomes the HV McKay Charitable Trust to its community of funders and is very grateful for its support.

The grant will support one of the most challenging activities undertaken in the ARLP,  The Initiative.  This element of the program requires the group to define, develop and deliver a project towards the end of the 15-month experiential leadership development program.

ARLP Chief Executive, Matt Linnegar said, “whilst The Initiative is primarily about the lessons gained from the process of developing a project, funding from the HV McKay Charitable Trust will support the program team to guide the group in developing and implementing a project that has the potential to deliver tangible benefits for a region or community.”

The H V McKay Charitable Trust was established by Hugh Victor McKay in 1926, with a focus on the benefit of rural and regional communities – particularly in the areas of education and the relief of poverty. He was aware that rural Australia was instrumental in making his company, Sunshine Harvesters, one of the country’s largest manufacturers.

Chair of the Trust, Hugh Cuthbertson described Hugh Victor McKay as “a man with intense faith in his country, with a faith in his own vision and with a determination of character and bigness of heart that enabled him to take all obstacles in his stride”.

“The Trustees hope the ARLF can encourage its participants to share that passion and sense of duty to rural Australia”, he said.
