Launch of the New ‘Leadership for our Regions’ Program

6 June 2019

The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) in collaboration with the Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is proud to announce the inaugural ‘Leadership For Our Regions’ program. The first in this pilot series funded by the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development will be held in the Wide Bay Burnett region of Queensland. The second will be delivered in South West WA.

These programs are designed to challenge participants to think reflectively and critically about themselves as leaders and to explore viable initiatives to support the future growth of the region.

The eight-day, two-session residential program will be an immersive development opportunity that is available to aspiring local leaders as a scholarship.

“We’re really looking for individuals committed to their region who are looking for an opportunity to serve their community,” said Matt Linnegar, Chief Executive of the ARLF.

The programs will address conversations, beliefs, skills and actions required to engage in the incredible opportunities presented in Regional Australia.

“The RAI is delighted to present our research, taking a deep dive into the local economic and social insights that underpin the region’s future,” Liz Ritchie, co-CEO of the RAI.

From the two sessions, participants will have a stronger understanding of their leadership purpose and a collaborative network for future – proofing their region.

There will be 24 scholarships available for locals contributing to the economic success of the region.
