San Remo provides unique experiences for emerging Ag leaders

9 October 2018

Last month, 12 emerging leaders from across Australia travelled to San Remo on the Central Coast to participate in the Rimfire – Introduction to Leadership Program, facilitated by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) and supported by Horticulture Innovation Australia.

The program brought recent university graduates who are working across Australia in the agriculture sector to the Central Coast from 24-28 September. The participants developed their leadership capabilities through interactions, challenges and unique experiences, with facilitators, other leaders and the San Remo community.

Charlie Morrice, Manager: Leadership Program at the ARLF, said ‘this inaugural program is an extension of the ARLF’s diverse leadership program offerings. The program proved to be extremely successful with participants describing it as the “top experience so far of my life” and that it pushed them to the limits.’

‘What made the program so meaningful was the location and its community. San Remo on the Central Coast was chosen as the most desirable location for the program due to a number of important factors.’

‘The factors were an environment for learning, state-of-the-art agriculture and food initiatives, and a growing, vibrant community’ said Charlie.

The ARLF and Rimfire would like to thank San Remo and the Central Coast community for their engagement with the program. In particular:

  • San Remo Camp Breakaway
  • San Remo Bakery
  • San Remo Community Garden
  • San Remo EpiCentre and Neighbourhood Centre
  • San Remo Men’s shed
  • Central Coast Industry Connect
  • Central Coast Community Council
  • Peats Ridge Family Fresh Farms

A special thanks is extended to Ms Yasmin Catley MP, Member for Swansea who officiated at the program graduating ceremony.

The ARLF has been delivering leadership programs for over 26 years for the greater good of rural, regional and remote Australia.
