Alumni connect June – Measuring your impact

Firstly, I would like to encourage you to keep your eyes peeled for our alumni survey to be sent out early July.

With over 2,000 alumni in the network and just in time for our 30th anniversary, we are keen to report on the impact your collective leadership has had on rural, regional and remote Australian communities.

For our alumni readers and some others, you might already have a good sense of the impact all of you, individually and collectively, have had. We certainly do from our interactions. We are however, looking for data to support our storytelling. And see what other stories the data might tell us.

So, we encourage all our alumni to take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the survey and reach out to your cohort to encourage them to fill it out too. We will have a prize for the cohort with the highest response rate. But more on that soon.

In other news, Chief Executive Matt and I had the pleasure of chatting with each of the three cohorts from the Murray Darling Basin Leadership Programs held from 2003 to 2005 in our Cuppa Tea at 3. Around 15 alumni joined in the conversation and as always, it is amazing to hear the impact our programs continue to have upon participants – even after 19 years. These conversations are fast becoming my favourite part of the role, not only for the conversation that it generates, but watching connections re-ignited with both the cohort and the ARLF.

While in Brisbane recently, I met ARLP Course 22 participant Giovanna Web who lives and works between Brisbane and Darwin. Some catchups are just meant to be. It was great to meet and chat over a cuppa.

Finally, I would like to extend an invitation to alumni in the Wagga region. If you are free Wednesday 29 June 2022, please join us for a networking dinner. I have sent an invite to all those on our database within 100km radius of Wagga. If you have not received an invite, please reach out to me on julias@rural-leaders.org.au and I will forward further details.
