Alumni events

Our latest TRAIL Emerging Leaders program participants had the chance to enjoy afternoon tea with Their Excellencies, the Governor General David Hurley and Mrs Hurley, in early March as part of their first day on program in CanberraIt was also a perfect opportunity to bring local Alumni along too and ARLF Board Member Mena Waller also joined the occasion

This will be the last engagement with the current Governor General as his term finishes at the end of June Since his appointment in 2019, he has been a fabulous supporter of everything we do and has hosted us each year at Government House since 2019. We are so appreciative of his support, as well as the support of his wife Linda, and we wish them both well on their next adventure. I would also mention the fabulous team at Government House – so helpful, efficient, and accommodating

We also had a small gathering of Alumni in Launceston at the end of March. Many thanks to my colleague Wener Vogels who acted as host on the day. And thanks to those who joined. We love staying engaged with the Tassie crew and keen to host another gathering in Hobart later in the year

The planned gathering for Deniliquin in March was postponed till late May/early June. I’ve connected with quite a few determined Alum from the Riverina region who are keen to help us drive the gathering that will likely align with another program opportunity in the townStay tuned for dates.

Our 2024 TRAIL participants with His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley.

Fundraising superstars

The fabulous Graham Smith, previous Program Manager with who worked with us for 7 years, has set off on his ride from Canberra to Brisbane to raise awareness and funds for scholarships to help others experience an ARLF programGraham’s 1400km journey weaves through the heart of Australia’s rural communities in NSW and southern QLD to highlight the importance of leadership development in these areas. We will reach out to Alumni who live along the route

There’s lots of ways you can support…

  • Donations big or small via the ARLF Country Roads page
  • Encourage others to donate
  • Use the ride to raise awareness of the ARLF
  • Graham keen to meet with Alum along the way – but only for a quick Cuppa and possibly a photo. He needs to keep that bike and his legs moving.
  • Connect Graham with any of your local media contacts

And another shout out to NT based Fellow, Donna Digby and her commitment to fundraise for a scholarship for a Central Australian Leader. She’s set up a social enterprise called ‘Territory Connect and her first major initiative is a Leadership walk along the Larapinta TRAIL. You can join the walk or simply donate to the cause. She also already raised $17,597. Donate today, every little bit counts.

ARLP alumni, Donna Digby, and former ARLF Program Manager, Graham Smith, undertaking fundraising challenges on behalf of the organisation.
