I support ARLF’s regional leads, facilitators, and participants by providing them with a great experience in our programs. This is important because I believe a good experience is essential for our participants so they can concentrate on building leadership skills.
When not working, I spend time with my family, and I love to travel around this great country with my husband in our caravan.
Where does your passion for rural, regional and remote Australia come from?
I have worked for not-for-profit organisations for the past 20 years providing support to rural and regional communities across Australia. My passion stems from some of my earliest childhood memories of heading to my aunt and uncle’s dairy farm in rural NSW during school holidays. Time spent there was always an adventure whether it was helping in the paddocks and dairy or swimming in the creek, there was always something to do. Just remember, if someone asks you to hold the fence – don’t – just in case it’s an electrical one…
What’s your favourite memory or most memorable moment in rural, regional and remote Australia?
My favourite memory of rural Australia is travelling through far west New South Wales a few years ago. Despite the dust, drought, mice plagues and then COVID, everyone was always helpful and friendly in each town. We could have done without the dust that crept into every seam of our caravan, but that was just part of the adventure. There is nothing like a sunset in the outback.
What’s your professional background?
Prior to joining the ARLF, I worked for 20 years in not-for-profit organisations, including 12 years for Pony Club Association NSW and nine years working on behalf of breed societies.
Three things you love about working at the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation?
Three things I love about working for the ARLF are the friendly and helpful people I work with, meeting new participants – either in person or online – and travelling to places to help out on programs that I wouldn’t get a chance to visit otherwise.
