Tanya Lehmann

Once described as having enough energy to power a small town, Tanya has over two decades of experience leading large-scale organisation and systems change within the rural health sector in South Australia and nationally. A clinician by background, experienced project manager, executive director, board chair, coach, mentor, trainer and leadership program facilitator, Tanya draws on a wealth of experience in navigating complex systems, figuring out how to lead consciously, nurture leaders and build workplace cultures and governance systems that sustain positive change.

Tanya is passionate about wholehearted leadership and discovering ways to leverage strengths and harness the potential in individuals, teams and systems to thrive. She gets really excited about co-adventuring with leaders, dancing on the edge of what is known, provoking fresh thinking and new perspectives, and designing practical experiments to test limiting assumptions and deliver breakthrough performance results.

Since January 2021, Tanya has been running her own Consultancy business and collaborating with Board Accord, CulturAlchemy, LeadersHP and Pique Global. Tanya specialises in organisational culture change, leadership development and the strategic alignment between Boards, Executive Teams, Organisational Strategy and Performance metrics. In May 2021, she was appointed by the Minister for Health to the South Australian Health Performance Council for four years. A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course, Tanya has over 10 years experience as a Board Director and Chair, including with the National Rural Health Alliance and Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health. Tanya completed the Australian Rural Leadership Program (Course 21) in 2015.

From 2015-2018, as Regional Director of public health and aged care services in rural South Australia, Tanya was responsible for the strategic leadership and governance of 12 hospitals (including 10 integrated residential aged care facilities), 2 medical practices and community-based services. During this time, Tanya also led the creation and implementation of an Integral Performance Framework for all of Country Health South Australia, which was recognised with an SA Health Award and invitation to present at keynote speaker at the international Wisdom Economies Conference in Iceland.

In 2018-2019, Tanya led the Change Leadership and Clinical Governance streams of a major Governance Reform Project across rural South Australia, which restructured a centralised Country Heath system into six independent Regional Local Health Networks (LHNs) with Boards. Prior to leaving the Public Sector, Tanya was the Manager Organisational Development for the Rural Support Service providing executive coaching, leadership programs and strategic planning facilitation.

Tanya draws on a deep and diverse toolkit, including qualifications in Science (Nutrition and Food Science, Dietetics), clinical education, communication, and positive psychology. She is a qualified Coach, member of the International Federation of Coaching (ICF), holds credentials in gestalt facilitation and integral practice, and is a certified practitioner in the Leadership Circle, Human Synergistics LSI/GSI, Barrett Cultural Transformation Tools, Saville Wave and Resilience at Work (R@W).

When it is time to recharge, Tanya can be found outdoors enjoying the beautiful Murray River with her husband, two teenagers, energetic kelpie Nahla and good friends, or curled up with a good book in their rammed earth home. You might also find her with a paintbrush, wooden spoon or power tool in hand, indulging her love for making art, yummy food and other creative messes.
