ARLF Changemaker Workshop
Practical leadership.
Right where it's needed.
Changemaker Workshops are now available to organisations, industries and communities across Australia. We tailor every workshop to the context, size and goals of your group. From remote communities to corporate boardrooms — we meet you where you’re at.
Changemaking is about stepping up to lead when it counts—especially in times of change and complexity. It’s the ability to connect people, shift perspectives and take practical action.
Who is a changemaker?
Changemakers can be people from all walks of life, not just those with formal titles. You’ll find them in boardrooms, branches, community halls or even out in the paddock. What unites them is a drive to leave their ‘patch’ better than they found it. They lead by influence, not authority, and bring others along with them.
What is the benefit of changemaking?
Changemaking creates space for fresh thinking, stronger relationships and real-world action. These workshops are designed to help groups break through the silos, overwhelm and decision-making paralysis that often emerge in times of pressure or uncertainty.
Why do we need changemakers?
We’re living in a time of rapid change. The challenges are layered and the answers aren’t always clear. That’s why we need changemakers - people who can help others stay grounded, adaptable and connected while navigating uncertainty.
Changemakers don’t wait for the ‘right’ conditions, they act with what they have and where they are.

What exactly is a Changemaker Workshop?
ARLF Changemaker Workshops are practical, face-to-face experiences delivered over two days. They’re designed to support people and organisations in rural, regional and remote Australia to navigate change—whether it’s responding to external pressures or driving new opportunities from within.
Face-to-face immersive experience
This is not a sit-and-listen workshop. Changemakers are immersive, hands-on and full of real-world tools and frameworks that participants can use straight away.
Strengths-based approach
Participants are encouraged to recognise their own strengths, tap into existing networks, and build on the skills and relationships already in place.
Practical leadership development for complex times
Participants will explore the ability to lead through uncertainty, build trust across differences, and turn complexity into action.
What makes an ARLF Changemaker Workshop impactful?
- Place-based and people-first. We work with the leadership already in the room. No experts on pedestals—just people getting practical.
- Built on trust. You’ll be guided by facilitators with real-world experience in community, government and industry—people who create space for openness, learning and action.
- Proven. Since 2024, Changemaker has supported over 1,200 people across 36 regions—from bushfire recovery towns to drought resilience teams.
- Sparks action. This isn’t a ‘sit and listen’ event. You’ll leave with tools, next steps, and a stronger sense of what’s possible.

The answers are already in the room
A strengths-based approach to leading through change
At the heart of every Changemaker Workshop is a simple belief: the answers are already in the room.
Rather than focusing on what’s missing, we start with what’s strong. Participants are encouraged to recognise their own strengths, tap into existing networks, and build on the skills and relationships already in place.
This strengths-based approach empowers people to:
See possibility instead of limitation
Collaborate across differences
Build confidence to take action
Create momentum for change
It’s not about fixing problems—it’s about unlocking potential. And when people feel capable, connected and clear, real change becomes not only possible—but inevitable.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question that we haven’t answered below? Get in touch with our friendly team. We’re happy to help.
Generally, we would expect that you bring participants. If you would like to have ARLF recruit participants, in a particular geographic region for example. Please contact us to discuss a custom option.
Due to logistical set up and running costs, we are unable to refund for participants’ non-attendance.
Under certain circumstances, we may be able to run a workshop with a larger group. This usually requires an additional facilitator. It is important to note that we don’t necessarily recommend this as learning outcomes in a group above 30 people can be diminished. Running two workshops may be a better option.
Not entirely. While the core concepts of the Changemaker Workshop are the same, our facilitator will work with you to understand your group’s context, any specific challenges that may come up to keep the workshop relevant and topical.
Anyone aged 18 years and over can participate.
Yes, this workshop is suitable and cater for people of diverse abilities. Participants will be required to be in a sedentary environment, sitting for a number of hours at a time. The physical components of the workshop are very mild and adaptable and include standing/ sitting in circles and some limited movement.
After an initial discovery call to discuss your options, you will enter into a service delivery agreement with ARLF. Depending on the circumstances, our team will need approximately 6 months of time to complete the logistics and design process before delivering the workshop. This includes selecting the facilitator, customising the workshop to your context and registering participants.
