Leadership Programs for Communities

For years, the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) have worked side by side to support leadership that’s grounded in place and led by community.

Now, with continued support from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s Future Drought Fund, that partnership is growing. Together, we’re backing the people who shape Australia’s most resilient communities.

The Leadership Programs for Communities are part of the Future Drought Fund’s Communities Program.

Building drought resilience starts with local leadership - people who know their communities, care deeply, and take action when it counts.

What types of Leadership Programs will be available?

A diverse range of leadership programs will be available across each region, designed to support both emerging and experienced leaders:

  • Workshops: Practical, face-to-face sessions designed to strengthen leadership mindsets and skills
  • Residential programs: Immersive experiences that build confidence, networks and the ability to lead through uncertainty
  • Tailored support: Coaching and development options for individuals or groups

The National Mentoring Initiative, also part of the Future Drought Fund’s Communities Program, offers a 12-month mentoring experience for people across the country. Whether you’re looking to be mentored or share your own experience, it’s a powerful way to grow and give back.
